I sat in the back of the car, next to my brother who was tapping away on his I-pad, staring at the small screen on my amazon fire phone watching youtube and hearing Connor Franta on my heaphones as we drove on towards Lake Tahoe.
“Look there’s snow” exclaimed my mom, I looked out of the window and saw pine trees covered with snow, and banks of snow taller than me alongside the road. After a few minutes of looking outside I once again watched videos on my phone.
When we finnaly reached Lake Tahoe, we were starving so we went to a pizza place called Jiffy’s pizza but the ovens hadn’t started yet so we headed off to Subway. When we reached the Subway we saw it was tiny and had a huge line, and the people working there were slow and inneficient. When we ordered they only had two types of bread because everything else was frozen so they microwaved a flatbread for me. Subway is always good but this was the worst Subway ever.
We then went to a sports equipment rental place and we asked about ski lessons and they said that we should go to Diamond Peak Ski Resort because they have great ski lessons for all ages. We then drove to Diamond Peak and got a brochure about their ski lessons and decided that we might go tommorow.
My brother and I wanted to play in the snow so we went do a golf course that had been snowed on and we layered up and headed out, I had my sled and my brother had his and after I went down a small hill a few times I saw that my brother had left. I wnt down the hill a few more times but snow had gotten inside my boots so I left. When I reached the car I saw my brother had the same problem so we set off to Reno, Nevada to get snow boots.
We arrived at a Walmart in Reno to get snow boots, but there was every single kind of shoe and boot but there was absolutely no snow boots. We ended up getting french bread and ice cream and left for our hotel. We stayed in Residence Inn Reno which was about 30 miles from Tahoe. There was 6 people (My mom, dad, grandpa, grandma, brother and I) in one studio hotel room with one bed and one sofa bed. When we were at the hotel we watched Mission Impossible: Rogue Nation and during the movie my mom and dad got Dominos and we had pizza.
After a very long night (we found out old people snore a lot) we woke up and realized we still hadn’t eaten our ice cream, so we ate some and went and had the hotel breakfast. After packing up all of our stuff we went to the car and headed off to have a rematch with the snow.
While we were driving there we saw a small store along the road and a sign said it snowboards, skis and snow boots, we went inside and got boots for my brother, mom, and I (They were snowboarding boots but we didn’t snowboard). We again left for the snowy place this time more prepared.
We saw a big hill that was amazing for sledding that already had loads of people sledding on it, and we parked our car along a row of cars and headed towards the hill. My grandpa said that it was too cold for him so he decided that he would stay in the car, and my grandma stayed in the car most of the time as well because it was like 16 degrees outside. When we reached the hill we built a snowman with oreo eyes, a carrot nose, and scarf (My brother had packed this all from home), the snowman looked really cool and a bunch of people took photos with it and someone even stole its nose and tried eating it. My brother and I then climbed up the hill and sledded down the hill and it was exhilirating. Climbing up was tiring, especially with the thin air in thae Tahoe mountains, we came down sleeding a bunch of times, I fell of my sled a lot and raced with my brother sometimes, most of which I recorded on my head mounted GoPro Hero 3. My mom and dad even went sledding a few times, after a while we realized it was too late to go get ski lessons so my brother and I asked if we could sled a few more times, my mom left to the car but my dad stayed. My mom got my grandma to come out of the car and walk to the hill to see our snowman. After a while we were exhausted so we started to drive back home.
While we were driving (about 2 minute after leaving sledding) it started snowing and my brother saw snow for the first time, I had seen snow when I was little in Kansas but I didn’t remember that though. From movies I always thought snowflakes were huge and in pretty shapes and cool designs but they really are really tiny dots called flurries that are really soft and light and pile up to make snow. We stopped the car on the side of the road and we all had fun in the snow (I could never catch a snowlake), and in the end we had a snow ball fight using snow from snow drifts on the side of the road which my brother and I climbed onto. Well that was my amazing trip at Lake Tahoe!!!!!!!!!!
